Freeport pool losing water? Test before you spend on a guess.

Freeport grew up around Dow Chemical's Texas Operations complex, still the largest integrated chemical manufacturing site in the Western Hemisphere, sitting along Brazosport Boulevard near the residential streets on the city's edges. Velasco, the historic town at the mouth of the Brazos River that Freeport annexed in 1957, still carries some of the area's oldest housing, and pools built during that earlier wave of construction are old enough that original equipment and plumbing have been through several rounds of the region's wet-dry clay cycles.

Coastal proximity changes things here more than it does in the other four cities we cover. Freeport sits closest to the Gulf, and that means more direct salt air exposure and higher ambient humidity, both of which wear on exposed pool equipment pads, metal fittings, and skimmer hardware faster than the same components would wear a few miles inland in Lake Jackson or Angleton.

Neighborhoods we work

Velasco and the older residential streets near Brazosport Boulevard, where housing stock tends to run older on average than the rest of our service area. Neighborhoods closer to Freeport's municipal harbor and the historic shrimping docks along the Old Brazos River channel. And the newer residential streets on the city's inland edge, further from direct salt exposure but still on the same clay base as everywhere else in Brazoria County.

What we actually do on-site

1. Bucket test

   Coastal wind and heat push evaporation rates higher here than inland, so we rule that out with a real number before anything else.

2. Pressure test each line

   We isolate skimmer, main drain, return, and cleaner lines individually, checking for corrosion-related failure at fittings more closely given the salt air exposure.

3. Dye test the shell

   Skimmer throats, light niches, and visible cracks get dye tested with the pump off to confirm exactly where water is escaping.

4. Written report same day

   Marked photos and a flat-rate repair number, handed to you before any repair conversation starts.

What makes leaks in Freeport harder to pin down

• Older equipment pads. Freeport's average housing age skews older than Lake Jackson's newer subdivisions, and pumps, unions, and skimmer hardware installed decades ago are more likely to be at or past their working life.
• Salt air corrosion on metal fittings. Direct coastal exposure accelerates wear on exposed metal components, sometimes creating a pinhole leak at a fitting that a purely inland pool wouldn't develop as quickly.
• Humidity masking slow leaks. Higher ambient humidity here means a small leak's evaporation signature is easier to miss without a proper bucket test, since surrounding ground and deck already stay damp longer.
• Root intrusion on older lots. Mature trees on Freeport's established residential streets have had decades to grow into buried plumbing runs near the equipment pad.
• Shared trenches from harbor-adjacent utility work. Some older Freeport properties near the port and industrial corridor have utility lines sharing trench paths from past infrastructure work, which slows down tracing a specific pool line.
